You may be, like me, back into the thick of networking and one question I always get asked is about how the market is and whether we are busy with roles.
Despite the dreaded ‘B’ word we are finding that firms are busy and they are in the main sticking to their original plans for growth, whatever they may be.
There is some school of thought that individuals are feeling more cautious than corporations in this climate, but we still have a variety of family roles in Suffolk and Cambridge and a number of private client options too. So this is not truly born out in what we are recruiting for. Commercial client focused options are more numerous but historically always have been. Litigation roles are tending to be on the rise which gives options across contentious and non-contentious work. A few conveyancing teams have said to us that the market seems to be moderate this year so far as perhaps people wait for the end of March to resolve things one way or the other.
Overall we still encourage candidates to really think about what they are looking for to make the right move not just any move. We continue to have more roles available than we have people to fill them for a variety of reasons. Often because the firms’ requirements are specific in terms of level of experience. Often simply because there are not individuals in that field of law looking for roles.
Whatever your area of law we are happy to keep a watching brief for roles for you and flag things that we identify. You never know what might be out there with your name on it!
