February is here, often a lull between festivities and spring, but you can make it a useful month for your career. Remember your career is like your own business, take time each month to help it grow. Spend 10 minutes online today thinking about the many, useful business contacts you have!
This month… Update your Linked In profile
Today have a look at your Linked In profile. If you haven’t set one up then do! It really is the most professional of the social media channels and it doesn’t require much ongoing work.
- Keep your business contacts up to date – link to all the clients that you are currently working with
Why? By connecting with them it provides a starting point to maintain these relationships and so not loose contact - Link to clients in the past who you have worked with
Why? It will help keep you in their minds for future should they need legal advice - Send an invitation out to people that you meet in your face to face networking
Why? It provides an easy link to you so that if they, or someone they know, needs you in future they can find you again without searching through piles of business cards - If there are people who you wish were clients then connect with them as well
Why? Again it will help keep you in mind should they ever look for legal advice
Connecting to people on Linked In gives you a record of clients and contacts, it is a helpful channel to be found by clients and ensures that you harness and keep these contacts throughout your career.
