Flexibility is the watch word!

With the working climate changing, does your firm allow you the freedom to work in your own way, keeping your own hours?

It seems to be a much better idea to have a happy work force doing the hours that they can cope with than an unhappy force keeping long hours simply to keep up with each other.

Reasons that I have heard for long hours:

  • The clients expect it
  • Everyone else does it
  • The boss insists on it
  • It is expected

Are these all true though?  Can client expectations simple be managed?  We know a lot of part time worker who keep their clients informed or their work patterns with no adverse consequences.  Most people will understand that everyone has a life outside of work.

We have been working with a number of firms who offer something different.  Some allow people to work from home each week as routine – even the NQs!  After all law is all about output and time recording so if that doesn’t provide enough proof of work being done then what does!

Also a firm setting up in Norwich allows you to take your own clients with you, service them to ensure they are happy.  Work the hours of your choosing on the days on your choosing and receive a salary proportionate to your billings but on a much lower multiplier than with a large firm. (see below)

The options are out there if you look around!
