Happy New Year! So we are in January once again with that feeling of a new start. For many it also means moving into the last quarter of the financial year. Firms will focus on their plans for the forthcoming year and determine what action they need to take to move forward.
January is the perfect excuse for you to do the same, make 2014 the year that you take the time to think about your career and not just work in your job. Make the time to keep your career moving in the direction you want.
This month… Investigate the jobs market
Your action point for January is to do some research on the roles available.
Investigate the jobs market and take the time to:
- Research jobs boards
- Speak to me!
- Check the legal press
If there are significant opportunities in your field then my advice is look around, no matter what your thoughts are on your current role.
Doing some research ensures that you are best placed to achieve your career aspirations. Areas of law are cyclical; if you look for a role when the market is flooded you will find your best option.
If you need to move sooner then make sure I know, and be sure to seriously consider every role that comes along, don’t dismiss anything until you have all the information.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I wish you all the best for 2014. Here’s to a year of career progression!
